A Simple Math......

A undersaturated oil reservoir. Initial and bubble point pressure is 3500 psia and 2400 psia respectively.
Solubility of gas in crude oil 0.42 scf/STB/psi. Initial oil in the reservoir is 10.02 MM STB and formation
volume factor of oil at 3500 psia is 1.333 bbl/STB. What will be the initial GOR and what will be the initial scf
of gas?

@ Tanvir- Thank u for ur interest.

A undersaturated oil reservoir means all gas will dissolve in the oil above bubble
point. from initial pressure to bubble point pressure no gas will evolves, so the GOR
remain constant. and below bubble point GOR decrease with decreasing pressure.
The answer should be .42 scf/STB/psi x 2400 psia = 1008 scf/STB. If u have any
confusion, mail me at jahid_pme04@yahoo.com. i will explain. now try the 2nd one.
thnk u jahid vai......I misconstrued it.
2nd ans may be 1008*10.02 MM scf.
With the above data, when oil produced at 1500 psia is 1 MM STB, and net
cumulative produced GOR is 2800 SCF/STB. what will be the free gas in the
reservoir at 1500 psia?

@ tanvir- at 1500 psia, GOR = .42*1500=630 SCF/STB. and oil remaining in the
reservoir = 10.02-1= 9.02 MMSTB. so dissolve gas = 630*9.02= 5.68 MMMSCF.
produced gas = 2800SCF/STB * 1 MM STB= 2.8 MM SCF.Total gas (dissolve + free) in
the reservoir= 10.1-2.8=7.3 MMM SCF. Now free gas in the reservoir at 1500 psia is
(Total gas in the reservoir- dissolve gas in the reservoir)= 7.3- 5.68= 1.62 MMM SCF.
Dont worry tanvir, your answer may be wrong but it is very positive that u r
thinking.
