Application form; CLICK HERE

Two academic references, submitted confidentially in sealed envelopes using the
designated forms;
A personal statement;
We will need to take a copy of your passport page at Essex Abroad when you
submit your application.

NOTES:
Successful candidates will also have to provide the health form requested by the Chinese
Government, but since most doctors charge for completing them we would advise that
students do not obtain this for the application stage.
It is also not necessary to submit a transcript at this point as we have access to your
marks.
Applications are encouraged from students currently in their second year of study,
however we would advise that given the high level of competition for these prestigious
scholarships, students without an average mark of around 65 or higher are unlikely to be
successful.
The personal statement will be very important in selecting the successful applicants,
though marks will also play a role.
Applicants must commit to spending two years in China. It is not possible to leave the
programme early.
The successful applicants will complete additional forms for the Chinese embassy. On
those forms, students are able to express preferences for particular universities in China,
but the embassy will allocate students to universities. It is not possible to appeal against
the allocation, nor is it possible to withdraw from the scheme if allocated to a university
that was not one of an applicants choices.
