A LIVING MIRACLE

Wind and snow wildly circled Jane. Its just another storm. she thought, scared,
anxious, for her life...
Jane looked furiously for the path back home, but with all the snow falling down
all at once, she couldnt even find her footsteps... The snow was piling up, It was almost
up to Janes waist. Her dark brown hair was now white, her new pink boots were no
longer visible, her warm, cozy home was now gone.
Jane looked up, AHHH!!! she screamed, a huge block of ice from the hailing
storm fell from the sky nearly landing on Jane. She stared at the ice in relief... That
thing couldve killed me! she said in a quivery voice. Jane glanced at the her arm,
which had been skimmed by the ice block, and saw a rip in her coat, paying no more
attention, she turned around to continue looking for a way out of the woods. Realizing
quickly that when the ice block had fallen, it landed on one of the trees first... Knowing
that the the storm was dangerous Jane ran as fast as her legs could carry her before
anything bad couldve happened to her. But it was too late...
The tree pierced Janes side, crushing her ribs causing her breathing to slowly
creep away. All she could think of was home, and help. If she didnt get help fast her
chances of living would fail her... nothing to do, nowhere to go, no one to help. Jane
got one last screech out. HELP! And then she closed her eyes falling unconscious.
The tree sunk deeper into her ribs, making a loud CRACK!, the branches were now
slightly touching her throat...
A car past by, stopping because the tree was in the middle of the road. A young
man named Richard got out and stared at the tree wondering what to do. Jane, her
mind still the tiniest bit alert, opened her eyes. Unable to breathe, she realized that she
had been near the road. Using everything she had left in her lungs she managed to say
help in a voice as small as a mouse. Richard, worried about his hearing from such
a small voice, looked towards the woods. He could just barely make out the hood of
Janes coat, ripped off laying beside her (Jane was in the snow and unable to see from
a far distance). Richard ran to the trunk of the tree and finally found Jane.
Jane Richard said in a worried voice. How does that man know my name?
Jane thought. She opened her eyes. Dad!?! she thought. She opened her eyes again,
it was her dad. He was coming home from work. Richard instantly grabbed the thinnest
part of the tree that was closest to Jane and lifted it up. Its so heavy!! How am I gonna
be able to lift this up? Richard thought anxiously. But because he was so worried, he
had the strength to keep the tree up with his knee. He reached down and grabbed Jane

by her waist (careful about her ribs) and picked her up. Richard ran as fast as he could
and put Jane in the car, buckling her in without hurting her. He saw that her ribs caved
in, and blood coming out of her side. Luckily, the Wakefield Hospital was in the opposite
direction, so Richard didnt need to move the tree.
Fifteen minutes later, Jane was in a stretcher at the Wakefield Hospital being
rushed to room 11... Janes mom, Karrie and sister, Paige were able to make it to the
hospital to make sure she was okay. Richard, Karrie and Paige ran to room 11 to be
with Jane. But the nurse didnt let them. She said that Janes operation would be done
shortly and then they would be allowed to see her.
Done shortly apparently meant three hours! Why are they taking so long!
Karrie said, They said it would be done shortly! Its pretty bad Karrie... I dont blame
them for taking so long. Richard corrected.
An hour later the nurse came out of the room and stood in front of them. Paige
and Karrie were asleep, but Richard immediately stood up and asked How is she?
Let me just say that your daughter is a living miracle! The nurse replied. Yes!!
Richard yelled, waking Paige and Karrie up. Once Karrie saw the nurse she asked Is
she alive? Did she make it? Can we see her now? Yes, your daughter is alive, and
you may see her now. But dont be too loud! The nurse said with a giggle.
Dad? Mom? Paige? Is that you? Jane asked when they walked... No, ran into
the room. How are you? Richard asked. The doctor told me that I have three broken
ribs and a pierced side. Jane replied. Mom! Jane said after seeing her. Karrie
reached her arms out for a hug and then stopped. Instead she put out her hand and
shook Janes. They laughed. Then there was silence, Jane coughed, breaking the
silence. The three of them laughed again. Well then, Im just glad you're alive! Paige
said in a silly voice, again, causing them all to laugh. A living miracle... Ha! Thats
exactly what you are! And I want you to know that no matter what happens to you or to
us, we will always love you. Richard said. I love you to guys... And thank you dad, for
saving my life. Jane smiled at her family, proud to be apart of their lives.
