Strategic Compensation World Cafe

Facilitator Expectations:
1. Accurately record the thoughts and ideas shared by your group without interjecting your own
personal bias.
2.

Ideally, groups will consist of 5 to 8 teachers.

Be an active listener ask for clarification, paraphrase what you heard.

4. Ask meaningful follow up questions where it makes sense (e.g. Id like to be rewarded for
professional development a follow up question would be What do you mean by professional
development?)
5. Be on the lookout for people who arent participating. Encourage all participants in your group to
provide their opinions.
6.

Encourage the group to listen respectfully to everyones ideas even ideas they may not agree with.

7.

Watch for and close any side conversations that may be happening.

8.

Record the groups response to four questions in a google doc:


1. What did you like about the previous salary schedule compensation system (i.e.
step and lane)?
2. What did you dislike about the previous salary schedule compensation system (i.e.
step and lane)?
3. What general and specific features would you like to see included in
a new compensation plan design?
4.

What dont you want included in a new compensation plan design?
