She has been in my classroom since the end of August and has been teaching fulltime since January. Shanna is organized in her teaching and follows established routines during daily lessons in reading and math. Within these routines she varies activities to teach weekly objectives. Shanna is always finding, or creating, additional resources to supplement the programs we use in our school. These additional resources have been high interest activities for the students. Like many schools, Nibley Park is a school of diverse learners. Shanna has managed the instructional needs of various leamers in the classroom including students being referred for Special Education and English Language Learners. Shanna knows her students and always has them in mind when planning lessons. She is aware of which students may need additional support and carefully monitors these students during instruction. Shanna understands the importance of collaboration with others. She is one of the most reflective teachers | have worked with and has many insights to offer during grade level collaboration, Shanna works well with others and is willing to work toward common goals. Shanna is developing a positive approach to classroom management. She knows that students respond to this approach. Shanna is conscientious about praising students. This positivity has changed the behavior of some of our tougher students. Based on her diligence as a teacher, knowledge of effective teaching practices and reflection of those practices, I would recommend Shanna as a teacher and colleague.
