Windows Vista VS Windows 8.1 Pro

VS
The current IT system being
implemented by Sunshine
FM radio station is one that is
running off Windows Vista. In
addition, the current Office
suite being used is Office
2007, consequently in order
for Sunshine FM radio station to be up with the latest software, the company will
need to consider using Windows 8.1 Pro.

Review of Windows Vista & 8.1 Pro:

The Positives + Windows Vista does offer improved built-in support options. A
number of the features/options within Windows XP are improved in Windows Vista
and they have fewer system crashes than Windows XP.

The Negatives Many of the applications are buried within the Start Menu, for
example; Windows Vista has situated the Search Bar not on the desktop, unlike
Windows 8.1 Pro who has opted for that particular design. For the reason that it is
more accessible for PC users. Vista is optimized only for the Microsoft Windows
ecosystem (for example, RSS feeds from Internet Explorer 7 get preferential
treatment); Not all of its software is implemented properly. Furthermore, some
people believe that there are too many editions of Windows Vista.
The Bottom Line/Verdict = Essentially, Windows Vista is a warmed-over version of
Windows XP with supposably less problems/fewer system crashes. Consequently,
if the company was only looking to have an XP performing system then it would be
best/cheaper for them to stay with Vista. However, because it wants to upgrade to
the latest Windows Operating System, then 8.1 Pro is the only direction to be
heading in. Windows 8.1 in all aspects comfortably out performs XP. For example,
how the desktop is arranged in to finding the Search Bar.

Microsoft Office 2007 VS Microsoft Office 2010

VS
Reasons why up grading to Microsoft Office 2010 is better and beneficial;

1. Customizing the Ribbon

There is no way for an ordinary user to make any changes to the Ribbon. Only by writing
with XML code can a skilled developer customize the Ribbon in MO 2007. In Word 2010, the
user can customize the ribbon, but it does have some limitations.

You can add controls to each group, add a new tab and add groups to the tab,

You can show or hide built-in groups or built-in tabs.

What you cannot do is make changes to a built-in group.

Note: beware of the Big Bug that will delete all your customization efforts.

2. Expanding and contracting custom groups

Another reason why up grading to MO 2010 is beneficial would be that the ribbon expands
and contracts. However, in Word 2007, if a developer customized the Ribbon and created a
custom group, it would not be capable of carrying out this procedure. Custom groups that
can expand and contract like built-in groups;
Are really useful if:

You are working on a laptop or a notebook with a very small screen.

You can look at a web page or emails at the same time by re-sizing the Word window.

3. Editing images

Review information on current IT systems supported by the organisation

In Word 2010, I see a little mini-bar above the right-click shortcut menu, when I right-click an
image. However, this is not the case in MO 2007. Its not a massing change, but little things
like this do make a real difference to users in
the short and long term.
When you right-click an image in Word 2010,
you see a minibar and a shortcut bar.
The mini toolbar gives access to the mostfrequently used picture-editing commands:
size, crop, flip etc. It's new in Word 2010.

4. Navigation Pane
The new Navigation
Pane has much to
be recommend for.
For instances, all of
the text you're
searching for, is
highlighted in the
find mechanism.
With nothing more
than drag and drop,
the new Document
Map lets you
rearrange large slabs of content. Furthermore, back is the old Alt-V-D keyboard shortcut.

5. Protected View

In the 2010 Word

program a
protected view to
open documents
is implemented
for potentially
unsafe locations,
this is known as
a "sandbox"
environment. For
example, if you
open a Word
document from a
website or an
Outlook email attachment, or a document that contains potentially unsafe content, it will
demonstrate it in a sandbox. This still allows you to view the document, but not pick up any
viruses that may be hidden within the document. However, you possibly will not be able to
edit the document until you consciously allow editing.
This is accomplished by selecting the button that looks
as if it would tell you about Protected View.

6. Undo

After running some code, the user has no way to know

how many steps to choose to undo the effect of the last
button he or she pressed. And the list is not accurate,
either.
Now Undo may not seem like a big deal to some
people, especially if you dont use Word often.
However, I believe that it should make the list of
Reasons why up grading to Microsoft Office 2010 is
better and beneficial. As, I feel it is quite an essential
part of using Word. For the reason that, it is the fourthmost used command on Word. This is after Paste, Save
and Copy
Something to consider also is, the patron has no way to
undo that code if you insert/type a code to influence the
document in Word 2007. The Undo list will look
somewhat like the figure on the left.
In Word 2010, you can use the 'Undo Bookmark' trick, or, one better, to give users a much
superior experience, use Words 2010's new utility to stipulate the text/transcript that
appears. This is why I would consider 2010 over 2007 Word.
