Dear Parent,
You are invited to sign up for a Student-Led Conference in GR4 SB. The conference will take
place on April 20th in the classroom. Please note that the conferences will be led by the student
and there will be several families in the room at the same time.
The student led conference is an extremely powerful way for students to be able to reflect on
their learning and for parents to become informed about their childs life at school. This is not a
time for parent-teacher interviews, but a time which has been set aside for students to celebrate
their learning with their parents. Your child has been busy this past term preparing his/her
portfolio and during the Student Led Conference, he/she will be able to talk you through their
year at school to date; highlighting their strengths and weaknesses, areas in which they have
grown and areas in which they would like to improve.
This is a somewhat different form of conference and it must be acknowledged that students are
in charge of the entire process. You will be amazed at what they will be able to show you! The
in-class part of the conference will last for approximately 30 minutes, which will then be
followed by a visit to your childs specialist classes. Conferences may be conducted in English or
in the childs home language, whichever is best for both students and parents.
Progress reports will be available to parents on Managebac on April 23.
The registration deadline for the conference is April 18 at 4:00PM.
