Shock and Awe

War is a game of chess
Move after move, never ending
Even when not playing
Always strategizing
The games last so long
Yet no one ever wins
Every pawn that falls
May mean nothing to the game
But with every piece fallen
Falls the strength of the play
War is a morale game
Why save a pawn
When you can take the king?
Maybe youd need to cheat a bit
Move a piece a space over
Even if you take out your own pawn
Isnt it all worth it for the king?
Who cares if your men
witnessed their own shock and awe
and watched their own bombs take them down
Isnt it all worth it?
For the king?
