SELMA
Selma is a historical film which tells about a bloody struggle for black peoples civil rights
and voting right. Selma is the name of city where our hero, Martin Lurther King initiated the
civil right movements. He was always thinking of black people and their unequal rights in
American society although the slavery regime was eradicated. On the behalf of the black people,
he met President to express their expectations, but he was unsuccessful in persuading the
President. Then he had powerful lectures in order to encourage restless marches. His sleepless
nights with worries, his terrible pains of innocent deaths of his companions in the march and his
imprisonment still made him unable to stop this movement. Dramatic clashes between white
soldiers and black marchers were witnessed by millions of people in the world. It took him a
long time (nearly 15 years) to have this sounding victory. Finally, American black people have
gained civil rights since 1964 and voting rights since 1965.
