| am pleased to write a letter of recommendation for Ms, Bailey Fern who Ihave
known as a graduate student in the elementary initial licensure program at James Madison
University. Her performance has been notable in several ways, and she has distinguished
herself as a strong pre-service teacher. Although I have not seen Bailey teach, she has
from her. cooperating teachers in her practica._During one
semester with me as a student, she consistently demonstrated enthusiasm and a growing
sense of professionalism through her performarice in classes and in practicum fieldwork.
In addition, Bailey has demonstrated strong academic abilities and a genuine
commitment to teaching. She was an involved and responsible student in class and
participated fully in all group and individual work. Throughout the program, Bailey has
investigated learning strategies as they relate to PreK-6 elementary curriculum content
areas (language arts, math, science, social studies, integrated arts) and was able to apply
“theory and best practices” in her work with her cooperating teacher and students. She
worked effectively in a two-semester inquiry project and produced a final report, whi
shared in a formal presentation in the College of Education in December 2014.
Bailey also possesses the necessary interpersonal skills that enable her to
communicate her knowledge efficiently to others in both written and spoken form. Her
sense of humor, her patience, and her growing ability to assist young students with complex
learning tasks will make her a valuable addition to the teaching profession. | have no doubt
that she will be able to transfer her pre-service skills to her work with future students and
colleagues with great success. In conclusion, Bailey shows the signs of becoming an
excellent professional educator who is dedicated to the young people in her care and to her
‘own professional development. She will be an asset to any PreK-6 faculty, and | am |
confident that she will distinguish herself throughout her teaching career. Ithas been a
pleasure to work with such a motivated and creative student. -
