Motion of a Fan Car:

1. Open your science notebook and turn to the first available page. Label the
page: Motion of a Fan Car.
2. Leave all equipment alone and pull out only the lab books from the crate.
3. Open lab book and read and p. 174.
4. Read page 175 and follow its directions. (Answer questions 2a and 2b on
your lab sheet in notebook).
5. Create the following table on your lab sheet.

6. Begin lab. Each person needs to release the car at least one trial. Record
your distance and time for each trial. Calculate speed after all trials have
been completed.
7. When all speeds have been calculated find the average speed by finding total
distance and total time. Use the equation Total Distance/Total Time to find
Average Speed.
8. For extra credit, turn your table into a graph which will be due Monday,
January 25th.

Important to Remember:
• This is the only day we have to work on this lab!
• Remember you have to work together as a group however everyone will
receive an individual grade. The lab will be graded when your class turns in
their notebook in for notebook check.
