M-Step Testing
5th grade students will begin the M-Step (new on-line MEAP) on Tuesday,
April 14 through Friday, April 24. Please try not to schedule any
vacations, appointments, or time away from school during this testing
window. We will need everyone here, well rested, fed, and on time for
optimal testing results. Thank you in advance for your support in this.

Subject Overview
Reading: Weve finished our historical fiction book clubs . We will now
move our focus to M-Step preparations and great reading strategies
that can help us perform our very best.
Writing: Students began our historical fiction writing unit. During the
weeks leading up to spring break, students will be choosing a
historical time period and event. They will then create fictional
character(s) who will live in that time period, showing their knowledge
of the culture, time-specific themes, and events.
Math: We will be starting Unit 7, Algebra, Patterns, and Coordinate Graphs, next week.
SS: Students are studying The Road to the Revolution, events that led to the Revolutionary
War.
Science: In preparation for the Social Studies M-Step test, 5th graders are viewing Liberty
Kids to learn about the Revolutionary War.

Extra Time??? Extra Practice!!!
