Pre-assessment of knowledge, skills, understandings, and attitudes using With minimal instruction on
what it means to tone a ground and use additive and reductive techniques to create a unique work of art,
students will create a small drawing. Afterwards there will be a brief critique of their work to create a group
discussion about what the technique consists of and how it is to be executed.

Demonstrate using an additive and reductive technique to create a unique work


of art. Complete thumbnail sketches of concepts from a large still life.
Develop full light to dark scales in color and grayscale.
Use various mediums to create works of art.
Compare different works of art and techniques to fully understand the spectrum
of each technique.
Students work individually but placed in groups to encourage competitiveness
to do their best.

By using warm-up exercises, students will have the different techniques of
additive/reductive and ground toning presented to them in different ways.
Work different concepts from the different thumbnail sketches to later fully
develop one.
