JB LEAGUE

JB league is a soccer competition held by the presidium (the official students

organization) of SMA Kolese De Britto or De Britto College and has also become a tradition for
years in this college. Its participants are teams that consist of students of De Britto College.
Every class in De Britto College must join the league. Every class provides one team. However,
there is an exception for the language classes. XI and XII language classes are merged into one
team because of lack of players from both classes. One team contributes eleven main players and
some substitute players plus four referees. The four referees are one main referee, two line
referees, and one substitute referee.
This competition uses group and knock-out systems. First, the teams (there are 24 teams
altogether) are divided into a group of four to compete using the group system. If a team wins a
match, it gets 3 point. If two teams play tie, they get 1 point for each and if a team loses, it gets 0
score. The first and the second winners of each group will continue to the next round and the rest
will be eliminated. The advanced teams will compete using the knock-out system and they will
keep playing until two teams go to the final. The team which wins in the final match will be the
champion of this league.
The current season of JB League is the 2012-2013 season. This season was started with
an opening match between X-6 versus X-7. It resulted X-6 won over X-7 by 4 goals to one. All
the students of De Britto College were very interested with this league and they always want a
win for their class. So far, it seems that the league had run well. Nevertheless, the committee has
got a problem in the middle of this season. Once, in a match between XII-Social-2 and XISocial-2, a supporter, who was angry with the referees decision, came into the field then
confronted the referee. This supporter punched the referee on his face. The match stopped
immediately and after that, the JB League was postponed for about a month so that the
committee and the advisor could solve the problem. Lets hope that there will be no incident
anymore in the league and we will have the true champion in the end of the season.
