Description of artifact and how the artifact meets the standard:
As an educator it is important to demonstrate the ability to enhance academic performance and
support for implementation of the school districts student achievement goals by creating a learning
community that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement, and self-regulation for
every student.
This is achieved in our classroom by having a daily routine that allows for a variety of activities and
interactions. Our daily routine includes large group activities, small group activities, and plenty of
time for students to have social interaction during centers and outdoor time. During each part of our
day, the students are interacting with their teachers and peers in positive ways. They are also
learning self-regulation during the day. During centers, they have to share, take turns, and solve
problems, and during large and small groups, they have to be able to wait their turn, follow the rules,
and show appropriate behaviors. The students are actively engaged throughout their time spent in
school.
Reflection on artifact (what went right, what went wrong, how to make better):
Our daily routine works very well for the students. The students are familiar with the routine and
know what is expected of them during different times of the day. They have learned what appropriate
behavior looks like at school, and do a great job of showing that while they are here.
