3. Define the multiple roles of the Judicial Branch

Checks and Balances (Separation of Powers)


Lesson Objective:
I can explain how the idea of checks and balances is used
to limit the power of the federal government.

2. Give examples of each branch limits the powers of
the other two branches
3. Find a real life example of when a branch limited the
power of another branch

Federalism
Lesson Objective:
I can explain the characteristics of federal system of
government.
The following items must be included in your lesson:

1. Define federalism
2. Define and provide examples of concurrent (shared),
delegated (national) and reserved (state) powers.
3. Supremacy Clause
*Hint: 10th Amendment should be discussed when
explaining reserved powers.
