Ryan was my teacher candidate for the placement in December 2014. Ryan Soulliere was an exemplary teacher candidate who demonstrated a highly professional and approachable demeanour with both staff and students. He has a natural ease with students who quickly responded to the warm, open, inclusive atmosphere that he immediately established with them, Ryan’s genuine care and commitment for the school community was further evidenced by his involvement with the basketball team. Additionally, this relationship was enhanced by Ryan’s ability to successfully adapt to a diverse teaching environment where he fostered a willingness to learn amongst all of the students through his differentiated lessons rooted in assessments as, of, and for learning. Ryan's daily and long term comprehensive planning and preparation exemplifies the seriousness with which he takes his responsibilities as a teacher. His lessons and assessments were always prepared with foresight to reaching the curriculum objectives as well as the students’ learning needs. Ryan effectively used a variety of relevant instructional resources and strategies (including media, handouts, verbal and non-verbal strategies, small and large group discussions, role plays) that tapped into and extended the students’ knowledge; these were highly meaningful to the students’ own learning styles. Therefore, it is with great confidence that I recommend Ryan Soulliere for employment with your board as he possesses a genuine reflective practice focused on student learning and student success.
