24kV Metal-clad Switchgear
Factory-Assembled, Type-Tested/IEC 60298/BS 5227)
FA62-2566D,Design Concept
‘Tho standard factory-arcembled switchgear developed on
the tasis of a modern design concept offers high quality.
What is also significant here ts the utilization of standardize
tion for various components such as frame work, insulators
for busbars, current and voltage transformers, and auxiliary
equipment for protection, contral, and instrumentation pur
poses. Accordingly, procurement and inventory administra
tion can be accomplished considerably easly ‘or both
operator and manufacturer.
The HICLAD-20J is the so-called factory-asembled and
ypetested indoor type 24kV metalclad switchgear,
assembled under rigorous quality control and passed the
careful verification tests. It is designed to accommodate
high-performance vscuum circuit bresker which hes been
signed and manufactured in accordance with IEC 60056 and
BS 5311. The switchgear itsef conforms to IEC60298 and
BS 5227, and all primary components used therein are in
accordance with the relevant IEC and/or BS Standards.
‘The modern production process hes been introduced for the
manufacture of main components, primarily in sheet-meial
forming, the technique of joining frameworks, insulator of
main busbars and surface protection
We infarm various operators of the fact that our switchgear
Technology assures an enormously wide range of applica
tions and the highest possible operational reliability,

Asa stendard, a pressure relief is provided onto the
busbar and circuit-breaker compartment at the top
of the framework,(1) Enclosure
The HICLAD-20J has an external metallie cover on all sides
{including the batcom) and earthed segregations to seperate
the panels from each ather. As a standard provision, a front
door attachment is provided whereby the circuit-breaker
truck stands behind the olosed door even in the isolated:
{test} pesition, All fixed covers cen be opened only with
the aid of tools.
(2) Internal compartmentalization
“Tho switchgear HICLAD-20J with a circuit-breaker truck is
compartmentalized for busbar, circuit-breaker, end cable
compartments with the earthed metalic partitions.
At the vertical partition between circuitbreaker and other
compartments, there are bushings for the primary plugin
contacts and safety shutters of eerthed metal driven by
‘the movement of the circuit-breaker truck.

(4) Earthing
The cubicle frameworks and their bolted connections are
designed to form earthing ring circuits
‘The metal-clad switchgear to IEC 60298/BS 5227 is given a
separate earthing concuctor within the cubicle frameworks,
Tho protwetive covers and builtin equipment are connected
to the cubicle frameworks using bolts so that it creates per-
‘manent earthing connections.
The circuit-breaker truck is earthed via earthing contacts in
‘the service, isolated (test) and their intermediate positions,“F Ancillary Equipment
(1) Intortecks
The switchgear is provided with the following mechanical
interlocks.
Interlacks to prevent:
1. A closed circuit breaker from being withdrawn from or
inserted inte the sorvico position
2. A circvit-breaker from being inserted into the service
position unless auxiliary circuit plug is connected.
3, The clesing of acireuit-breaker unless itis in the service,
isolated (test) or remiaved position,
4, Tripping by attempted isolation.
5. Closing of feeder earthing switch unless the circuit-
breaker is located at the Isolated (test] or removed posi-
tion,
6. A circuit-breaker from being inserted into the service
potition unieee the feeder earthingswitch is open.
7. A circuittbreaker from being closed unless the closing
spring is fully charged.
(2) Interlock/tixing of VC
‘The circuittbreaker can be fixed at service or at isolated
{test} position,
‘The interlock pins provuding from the right and left sides
of the circuit breaker ate trapped in the holes provided on
the interlock plate on the cubicle sido, and hence the circuit
breaker is fixed. When the circuit-breaker is removed, the
amount of protrusion of these interlock pins is decreased
to enforos disengagement irom the holes. This operation
can be effected with a knob mounted on the front surface
of the clreuit breaker.

«, During VCB inserting operation
The interlock conditions are as follows:
(a). Switching of the circuit-breakar is possible only if itis
in a fixed state (in service or isolated (test) position)
{b) The citcuitbreaker cannot be drawn out while it is
closed.
(c) The circuit-breaker cannot be closed while it is at an
intermediate position.
These interlocks are both mechanical and electrical, to
make it possible to prevent even accidental misoperat on.
‘The control circuit plug is of the manual connection type.
The contact points are silver plated to prevent a change in
contact resistance even after many years of service.
The following interlocks are provided for sefety.
(al Unless the contral circuit plug Is connected, VCB can:
Not be inserted into cubicle.
{b) Unless the YVCB is at disconnected position, the control
circuit plug cannot be disconnected.

ing positiens:
1. A circuit-breaker truck in the service and isolated (test)
positions
2, Mechanical operating switch of a circuit-breaker.
3, Safety shutters in the closed positions,
4. An operating mechenism for the earthing switch in the
closed or open position of the earthing switch,
‘The switchgear Is provided with a fault making type integral
earthing switch at the feeder circuit which has bean de-
signed, manufactured, and tested in accordance with IEC
60129. Tho carthing switch can be operated with a handle
located at the front of the switchgear ard it is completely
mechanically interlocked with the circuit-breaker

The individual switchgear units are assembled together,
wired up, tested, and delivered with the VCB truck inserted.
‘The busbars are supplied seperately for transport reasons,
The cable connecting space of the switchgear is designed so
that commercial cables, suitable for the rated feeder cur-
rent, can be employed to connect the switchgear. Heat
Foundation Work
The Tinished floor must be level, and provisions should be
made for this, during the construction of the building.
The level bases provide a firm foundation for the switchgear
for obtaining 2 level floor without final surfacing,
They should be arranged for correct latitude and longitude,
about 5 mm above the floor surface,
shrinkable cable terminations can be accommodated with-
in the switchgear. The switchgear room should have the
following minimum size, (Fig. 9)
