PROTECTING BABIES IN THE WOMB

HB 1721, the model Unborn Child Protection from
Dismemberment Abortion Act, moved in late
March from the Oklahoma House, where it first
passed 84-2, to the state Senate. The measure
was provided by National Right to Life and is one
of its highest legislative priorities. Before
reaching the Senate floor, the bill was in the
Oklahoma Senate Health and Human Services
Committee,
which
passed
the
Act
overwhelmingly by a vote of 7-1. All of the
committee Republicans voted for the bill; one
Democrat opposed it, while another Democrat
was absent. The lone nay vote came from a
female attorney, who asked the bills author
(sponsor), Senator Josh Brecheen, a series of
questions about the measures constitutionality.
Senator Brecheen did a masterful job
responding to the Democrat attorneys hostile
questions, Oklahomans For Life State Chairman
Tony Lauinger told NRL News Today. He quoted
both pro-abortion and pro-life justices of the
United
States
Supreme
Court
to
very convincingly make the case that we fully
expect the bill to be upheld as constitutional.

America's lawmakers and military experts are

increasingly concerned over radical Islamists'
capabilities to strike within any state in the U.S.,
while the FBI warns that Islamic State cells are
active in 49 states. The enemies of freedom
operating within our borders must be confronted
and exposed! Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is
among the many lawmakers with serious
concerns. He told ABC's This Week with George
Stephanopoulos, "I've never been more worried
about my country than I am today in terms of
radical Islamand yes it is radical Islam. They've
adopted a theory of religion that's a thousand
years old, that requires a worldwide caliphate,
that will purify the Islamic religion, kill or convert
every Christian and Jew and vegetarian in their
way. They're not going to stop unless somebody
stops them." Four Star Admiral James A. "Ace"
Lyons (Ret) recently issued his own stern warning
to the nation that America's greatest threat
comes from Islamists... "The transformation of
America has been in full swing since 2008."

decided to run for office, or chose to become
spiritual ministers to a local elected official? And,

visit? We have much to do in America if we
expect to see righteousness restoredacross the

RELIGIOUS FREEDOM GETS A VOTE

State officials nationwide are introducing

legislation known as the Religious Freedom
Restoration Act (RFRA), which mirrors the
language of RFRAs previously enacted and
currently in effect in 17 other states. State RFRAs
are based on a 1993 United States statute aimed
at preventing laws that substantially burden a
person's free exercise of religion. Indianas
Governor Mike Pence came under recent attack
for signing his states version of RFRA, Senate Bill
101, which would prevent state and local
governments from substantially burdening a
persons exercise of religion unless the
government can prove it has a compelling
interest and is doing so in the least restrictive
means. In 1997, the Supreme Court ruled that
the federal RFRA was constitutional as applied to
the federal laws but exceeded Congress's power
when applied to state laws, leading to individual
states passing RFRAs.

our nation was founded would be protected.

MILITARY CHAPLAINS UNDER FIRE

Chaplain Wes Modder is a decorated military
hero with an exemplary 19-year service record.
In 2014, at the personal request of a four-star
admiral, Chaplain Modder was assigned to the
Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC),
where he faithfully provided support, counsel and
spiritual encouragement to his fellow sailors. Just
weeks after Chaplain Modder received the
highest possible rating and accolades from the
NNPTC commander, a few sailors complained
that they disagreed with the Biblical views the
Chaplain expressed during counseling sessions,
even though the views were in line with the
teachings of his faith. Despite laws, military
regulations, and even court cases protecting
chaplains when they discuss religious matters,
the Navy removed Chaplain Modder from his unit
and isolated him at the base chapel, forbidding
him to minister to sailors spiritual needs.

PRAY: Chaplains retain their legal right to free
religious expression in the Armed Services.

THE SKIES ARE SPEAKING

2015 brings us a rare combination of Blood
