RELIGIOUS FREEDOM GETS A VOTE
State officials nationwide are
introducing legislation known as the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), which mirrors the language of RFRAs previously enacted and currently in effect in 17 other states. State RFRAs are based on a 1993 United States statute aimed at preventing laws that substantially burden a person's free exercise of religion. Indianas Governor Mike Pence came under recent attack for signing his states version of RFRA, Senate Bill 101, which would prevent state and local governments from substantially burdening a persons exercise of religion unless the government can prove it has a compelling interest and is doing so in the least restrictive means. In 1997, the Supreme Court ruled that the federal RFRA was constitutional as applied to the federal laws but exceeded Congress's power when applied to state laws, leading to individual states passing RFRAs. Supporters say the measure would protect people and business owners with strong religious beliefs from government intrusion. SCRIPTURE: Joshua 24:15. PRAY: The Judeo-Christian heritage upon which our nation was founded would be protected. ACTION: Go to the Salt & Light table. Write a postcard to your state legislators telling them you support efforts to enact and enforce the Religious Freedom Restoration Act at the state level. http://www.frc.org/issuebrief/state-religious-freedom-restoration-acts-rfras-whatare-they-and-why-are-they-needed
MILITARY CHAPLAINS UNDER FIRE
Chaplain Wes Modder is a decorated military
hero with an exemplary 19-year service record. In 2014, at the personal request of a four-star admiral, Chaplain Modder was assigned to the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC), where he faithfully provided support, counsel and spiritual encouragement to his fellow sailors. Just weeks after Chaplain Modder received the highest possible rating and accolades from the NNPTC commander, a few sailors complained that they disagreed with the Biblical views the Chaplain expressed during counseling sessions, even though the views were in line with the teachings of his faith. Despite laws, military regulations, and even court cases that protect

COURT PROTECTS BIBLICAL MARRIAGE
On the eve of the U.S. Supreme Courts
decisions on natural marriage, the Supreme Court of Alabama has mandated that laws defining marriage as only the union of one man and one woman do not violate the U.S. Constitution. Liberty Counsel filed an emergency suit to force Alabama probate judges to cease issuing unlawful marriage licenses to genderless couples. Marriage, as the union of one man and one woman, is the fundamental unit of society, the court stated. The court noted that all of the federal rulings striking down marriage laws to date are based entirely on circular and fatally flawed reasoning. The Supreme Court should take note of this historic ruling. SCRIPTURE: Genesis 1:26-28; 2:21-25. PRAY: The Justices on the U.S. Supreme Court recognize that marriage isand always will be only the union of one man and one woman as established by God at creation. ACTION: Go to http://www.LC.org to follow the fight for Biblical marriage across the country. http://www.lc.org/index.cfm?PID=14100&PRID=1527
JOIN THE A-SALT TEAM
If we want to see our nation restored to God, we
need elected officials who reflect Judeo-Christian values. Theres no better place to find these people than in the Church. What if pastors decided to run for office, or chose to become spiritual ministers to a local elected official? And, what if Salt & Light Biblical citizens adopted elected officials for whom they would pray and visit? We have much to do in America if we expect to see righteousness restoredacross the boardin all sectors of society. Government has been legislating immorality. How long do we keep taking this a-salt on our values? Christians win when we show up! We need to build an A-Salt Team. Will you be one of those who steps up? SCRIPTURE: James 4:17. PRAYER: Biblical citizens in churches across America rise up and take back our nation for God. ACTION: We are looking for 150 people who will step up. If you are one put in the subject line, A-SALT TEAM. Send to info@saltandlightcouncil.org
