Dear Families,
Hello! My name is Miss OLeary and I am your childs student
teacher in Miss Ernsts classroom. I will be working in your childs class
until May. I am currently studying Elementary Education at Penn State
Harrisburg, and will be earning my bachelors degree May 10th.
I have been volunteering in your childs classroom since the first
day of school and have gotten to know them well. I am very excited to
have the opportunity to work more in depth with your child. Prior to
student teaching, I have completed field placement internships in a
preschool, kindergarten, second grade, and third grade classroom. I
currently work in Harrisburg School District as a tutor in the afterschool
enrichment program. I am working in a fifth grade classroom.
I have worked with children in many different capacities over the
past five years. I coached basketball and soccer in various grade
levels. I also volunteered in a reading program in a local elementary
school. I teach 6th grade and four-year-old religious education at my
church.
Professional development is very important to me. I am the
president of Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society at Penn State
Harrisburg. I am also an active member of the Association of
Supervision of Curriculum and Development (ASCD). I have attended
six national and eleven local conferences held by various educational
organizations.
I am one of eight siblings from an immigrant family. My mother
immigrated from Argentina and my father from Ireland. Due to this, I
speak fluent Spanish and love to travel. I have been to over twenty
countries in four different continents. I try to tie in various cultural
diversities into the lessons that I teach your children.
I have many goals while in Miss Ernsts classroom. I aspire to
spark curiosity, broaden academic
interests, and excite your child about
the world of learning. Another goal of
mine is to get to know your child and
your family. You are your childs main
influence and I hope to solidify a
stream of communication to help
your child reach his or her fullest
potential.
Sincerely,
Veronica OLeary
