Fever (set
short CHIK ) is a relatively rare form of fever virus , caused by
an alphavirus that is transmitted by vector bites the mosquito Aedes
aegypti . Recent research by the Pasteur Institute in Paris suggest that the virus
has suffered a mutation that has become liable to be transmitted by Aedes
albopictus (Asian Tiger Mosquito). This was the cause of the plague in
the Indian Ocean and a threat on the Mediterranean coast, after an outbreak
in Ravenna ( Italy ) in September 2007 , which has prompted urgent action by
health authorities in the region
