Early Morning Playtime/Red Table

o Pasta Roller Activity
Students play on a pasta rollera device that has four foam cylinders
that spin. The two top cylinders lift up to allow a student to crawl through.
Most students are unable to figure out how to operate the device on
their own and must instead rely on a staff member to lift up the top
cylinders before they will begin to crawl through.
The pasta roller is a sensory tool that puts a slight amount of
pressure on students and activates some senses they do not already
use.

Breakfast
o I started feeding Jimmy today and continued to say open and close to help
him gain mastery of basic eating techniques.
o Carson threw his milk at the stage curtain because it was empty. Aides did not fill
his cup again and did not give it back to him. He was reprimanded for the
behavior but did not seem too upset.

Library

o On every third Thursday, the special education classes at Oak Point go to the
library in Marion for singing and story time.
o A librarian had a large book with a story/song for every color in it. She sang to the
students and some even sang along. Aides and teachers corrected behavioral
infractions during this time when students would not pay attention, got too close
to one another, or tried to take the materials from the librarian.
