PROCEDURE

Using a 300mL BOD Bottle

Firstly, a water sample was collected in a clean 300mL BOD bottle. Next, the
content was added by one Manganous Sulfate Powder Pillow and one Alkaline IodideAzide Reagent Powder Pillow. Then, the stopper was inserted immediately so that air is
not trapped in the BOD bottle. To mix the content, the bottle was inverted several times.
Wait until the floc in the bottle has settled. The bottle was inverted again for several
times and wait until the floc has settled. Next, the stopper was removed and one
Sulfamic Acid Powder Pillow was added in the contents. The prepared sample was
inverted for several times. A sample volume and Sodium Thiosulfate Titration Cartridge
was selected corresponding to the expected dissolved oxygen (D.O) concentration from
Table 1. Then, a clean delivery tube was inserted into the titration cartridge. The
cartridge was attached to the titrator body. Lastly, the delivery knob was turned to eject
a few drops of titrant. The counter was set to zero and the tip was wiped.

Using a 60mL BOD Bottle

Step in 300mL BOD Bottle was repeated in this experiment by changing only the
size of BOD Bottle to 60mL and some contents.
