For my sixth menu item, I chose to look at the Strategic Action
Plan on Homelessness from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which can be found online at www.hhs.gov. I will use this plan to get a good view of what the United States government believes about homelessness. This is a very reputable source, and it will useful because it provides many statistics about homelessness, and it provides many problems and solutions as well. The Strategic Action Plan on Homelessness consists of four major goals. Those are to prevent episodes of homelessness, to help the eligible homeless to receive health and social services, to help state and community organizations with their efforts in fighting homeless, and to develop a process for tracking homeless and ultimately to end homelessness. This proposal goes on to state a few strategies for accomplishing each of these problems. This proposal also gives many shocking statistics such as, 2-3 million people will experience a night of homelessness in the U.S. this year, and at least 800,000 people are homeless on any given night! There are also many tables and graphs of the governments spending on fighting homelessness. In conclusion, I will use this plan to get a good view from what the government believes about homelessness. There is no question that the U.S. government wants to cut down (and hopefully eliminate)
homelessness. This plan has also given me the idea to do more
research on whether or not it is the governments job to use taxpayer money to help the homeless. This plan obviously shows that the government wants to help the homeless.
