Research Findings
My groups short research project will discuss the effects of modern-day technology and
how it will change in the next 10 years. We will be specifically focusing on the effects of
everyday technology such as smartphones, iPads, and tablets.
The most interesting information I have found from my research (so far) is the effect that
smartphones have on our brains. An article from the Washington Post talked about how
touchscreen phones can increase the brains sensitivity when the thumb, index, and middle
fingers are touched (Thumbing around on a smartphone makes your brain more sensitive to
touch). Experts have found that there is a direct correlation between brain activity and the use of
smartphones. The more we use them, the more brain activity is stimulated. This is only the
beginning of the research as I am curious to discover more information about how the vast
advancements of technology will soon take over society to the point where smartphones may
become obsolete. I am eager to find out if the world will one day be solely run by technology and
not humans.
