MAJOR SCALES AND KEYS REFERENCE SHEET

Scales are a repeating set of notes in a specific order. Scales repeat themselves indefinitely
downwards and upwards.
Keys are collections of notes that make a major scale
- Major scales have the pattern of whole steps (W) and half steps (H)
+ Major scales are in the pattern W-W-H-W-W-W-H, this is always the same no
matter what key youre talking about.

Key of C:

#1

(1) 2 3 and so on

Each note in a scale is assigned a number. The letter name of the scale is always called note
number 1 in a scale. The rest of the notes go in order (see above picture)
If you were using the key of D, D would be scale note #1, E would be scale note #2, and etc.

# is a sharp sign that makes a note one half step

higher
b is a flat sign that makes a note one half step lower.
# or b notes are the black keys on a piano keyboard.
