Lesson Plan A story on FUNCTIONS (2 3 days depending on class length)

Content Objective: I will be able to understand the concept of a function and

use function notation.
Language Objective: I will work with my group to create and record a story
about functions using Storyrobe for iPad.
Standards: CC.F.IF.1 Understand that a function from one set (called the
domain) to another set (called the range) assigns to each element of the
domain exactly one element of the range. If f is a function and x is an element
of its domain, then f(x) denotes the output of f corresponding to the input x.
Lesson: Students will review the definition of function and give two examples. One example will show a
function and the other will not it will show just a relation. Students will then work in groups of three
to develop a story about what a function is and how to tell the difference between a function and a
relation. Before the students are allowed to record their story, they must submit their script for
approval. To assist students in getting started, they will fill out the following outline.
