Philosophy of Education

There are many ways that children learn but I feel that most children learn
through play, interactions with other, and through hands on experiences. The two
theorists that believe in these ideas are Lev Vygotsky and Jean Piaget. A childs greatest
achievements are possible in play, achievements that tomorrow will become his/her basic
level of real action. Lev Vygotsky. Vygotsky believed that child development is the
result of interactions between children and their social environment. These interactions
would be who the child is around which could parents, family, and friends. Not only
human contact but also books or toys. Children need that interaction with others not only
to play but also to learn from.
Jean Piaget believe that children learn best through hands on experiences and
need to explore nature of things through trial and error. It is important to realize that
when a child makes a mistake that it is okay! The mistake the child makes gives us a
chance to understand where the child needs more work in a particular area. As a teacher, I
will make sure that my children have the freedom to play, explore, and even fail. I want
my parents to feel comfortable to come to me about any problems that they have. Family
is a huge part of these childrens lives and I want them to be a part of homework or any
activity that we do.
