Mediation Scenario Assignment

Form a group that consists of three or four people. Two of you will be
the disputants and the other one, or two folks will play the part of a
mediator(s).
Write a 20 minute (minimum) scenario that involves a conflict that is to
be mediated using the community mediation process outlined in
lecture. Your scenario should involve at least 20 class concepts. These
concepts should be written ahead of time and given to me. At the end
of your role-play, we will have a discussion to see if your concepts were
clear to the audience.
The class should be given a description of the conflict and characters
(disputants) to help them follow along. The scenario should be written
out in manuscript form, but not delivered reading a piece of paper. You
should be able to deliver this while making eye contact with the other
people in your group. However, you may have the script on the table
just in case you lose your place. If you prefer to record this assignment
elsewhere, and play it for the class, you have that choice.
You will present your dialogue to the class and turn in the manuscript
to me before you deliver your presentation.
I will grade on:
Content- Did you cover 20 class concepts accurately (as a group)? 15
points
The concepts should be clearly labeled and highlighted in your
manuscript.
Delivery- Did you make eye contact to the others in your group? 5
points
Could the audience hear you? Did you appear to have
practiced?
Structure- Did your group follow the mediation process? 10 points
Was each phase accurately represented?
