FAFSA Application
The FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Keep in mind that it is FREE.
If you happen to go to another website that claims to be the FAFSA website, but asks you to pay
for the application then you are on the wrong website!
This application is the starting point for virtually all other financial aid processes. By completing
the FAFSA and supplying any other required documents to the financial aid office, you are
considered for federal grant and loan programs. (source:

First go to: https://pin.ed.gov/PINWebApp/pinindex.jsp to apply for a pin, which will serve as
your electronic signature.
Next, fill out either the FAFSA forecaster OR the FAFSA.
If you are completing this lesson between July 1st and December 31st, please fill out the
FAFSA forecaster: https://fafsa.ed.gov/FAFSA/app/f4cForm?execution=e1s1. Print it to turn in.
If you are completing this lesson between January 1st and June 30th, please complete the

Note: If you are a dependent of your parent(s) or guardian(s), then you will need their help to fill
out the application.
Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGFW)
Go to: http://icanaffordcollege.com/index.cfm?navId=10 and click on the button that looks like
this:

Follow the directions on the next webpage. You will then have to print out the waiver form and
fill it out by hand. Print two: one to turn in to the Financial Aid Office at the campus you plan on
attending and one to turn it in with this lesson.

Cal Grant Application


Go to: http://www.csac.ca.gov/doc.asp?id=1177 and click on the link that says September 2
Cal Grant GPA Verification Form.
Print the GPA Verification Form. Fill it out and turn it in with this lesson. Your teacher will then
submit the form to a school administrator. Be sure to follow up with your teacher to make sure
the form is returned to you before the deadline. You are responsible for mailing the form directly
to the Cal Grant Office.

Scholarship Match
Log on to Naviance. Click on the Colleges tab. Scroll down to the scholarships & money
section. Click on scholarship match.
Browse through the scholarship list. Pick 3 scholarships and fill out the chart on the following
pages.
