Anticipatory Set: Read Bunny Money


a. As I read ask students:
i. Ruby told her brother Max to get his lucky quarter, how
much is that worth?
ii. If they had $15 dollars and they had to pay $1 then how
much do they have now?
iii. If they have $14 and Max spent $2 on the vampire teeth,
how much do they have left?... etc.
Instruction: Review counting money on white board. Whole group. Draw
coins for students to count. Have students come to board, dot coins, draw
stop signs, and write value by counting on to find the total. Practice with
several examples.
Guided/Independent practice:

Hops to the Shops money book: Modeling: Do the first page of


the booklet for students to model.

Guided practice: do the 2nd page of booklet together.

Independent practice: students complete book by writing


rhyming words and drawing given amount of money.

Money Eggs: student will count the money in the eggs and
write on recording sheet.
