1. To study the accuracy of temperature measurements by using different type of

thermocouples and RTD.
2. To calibrate the measurement of thermocouple / RTD.
3. To determine the sensitivity of three different temperature devices.
4. to determined the temperature between thermocouples and resistance temperature
detectors (RTD).

Summary
The experiment was conducted to study the accuracy of temperature measurements by
using different type of thermocouples and resistance temperature detectors (RTD).The
experiment was carried out to calibrate the measurement of thermocouples or RTD and to
determine the sensitivity of three different temperature devices.Hence, the experiment also
was conducted to determined the temperature between thermocouples and resistance
temperature detectors (RTD).There were two types of thermocouples were used which was
TE1 (type K), TE2 (type J) and TE3 represent as RTD and 3 runs have been carried out with
different ambient temperature which were 30C, 40C, and 50C. From the first run at 30C,
the temperature for TE1 (type K), TE2 (type J), and TE3 (RTD) were 28.6C, 28.9C and
31.4C respectively. For the second run at 40C, the temperature for TE1, TE2, and TE3 were
41.3 oC, 41.4 oC and 41.3 oC. For the last run at 60C, the temperature TE1, TE2, and TE3
were 51.9C and 51.6C, 50.9 C. The Deviation Range(C) for TE1 (type K) was 44.89%,
for TE2 (type J) was 43.99% and lastly for TE3 ( RTD ) was 38.3%. Meanwhile for the
Difference(C) in the range at TE1 (type K), TE2 (type J) and TE3 ( RTD ) were 23.3C,
22.7C, and 19.5C. This show that an increasing the temperature the Deviation Range(C)
will be decreased. However,it can be seen that RTD have lowest range than thermocouple.
This might be due to the range of RTDs that was limited to a maximum temperature of 1000
degrees Fahrenheit. This experiment did not obey some theory because of error during
conducted the experiment. As a conclusion,it can be concluded that the experiment was
accepted.
