The SC dues rates are determined on the basis of SDR units ( Special Drawing Rights ).

Dues are calculated on this basis are payable in one of the acceptable
currencies according to their rates in relation to SDR as declared in
the latest bulletin issued by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The acceptable currencies for dues payment are :


US Dollar
Euro
Sterling Pound
Japanese Yen
Canadian Dollar

Swedish Krona
Danish Krone
Norwegian Krone
Swiss Franc

The chosen currency must be declared in the statistical declaration submitted to the SCA by dues payer.

Canal dues may be paid in Egyptian pounds when the vessel fulfill the following conditions :
1.

Vessels under the Egyptian flag.

2.

The owners nationality is Egyptian.

3.

If the charterer is Egyptian, in this case chartering agreements must be introduced.

Dues must be paid to the SCA, through an authorized agent prior


to the vessels transit according to the SCA Regulation(1),
using a bank account, Bank draft cheques and certified cheques are also acceptable.

Exemption of Canal Dues :


The following vessels may be exempted from Canal dues :
1.

Vessels belonging to the Egyptian Government, provided that they do not carry any cargo or
passengers.

2.

Vessels belonging to the United Nations and Multi National Forces.

3.

Motor boats belonging to authorized agents, on condition that they are not carrying passengers.
