The Chinese Exclusion Act was
approved on May 6, 1882.
Chinese immigrants had to have a
letter from their government
proving that they are able to work
and immigrate to the U.S.
The law excluded Chinese in the
U.S. already to be granted citizenship
It was not repealed until 1943

MEXICAN
IMMIGRANTS
80 % of Mexican Immigrants lived in Arizona and Texas
They worked in the railroad business, farming, and
manufacturing.
They were used for labor because they could easily be
fired before they deserved a raise.
Many Mexican Immigrants did not want to stay in the
United Stated but just wanted to get a better job and send
money home to their families
