Activity One
Freedom was earned by the brave men, for that we should be forever grateful to the men and soldiers of valley forge.
Listening and reading the text play important roles because when you read it you read it how you
would say it, but when you listen to it you listen to how it was actually spoken that day. It brings
in all aspects of the speech not just one.
Activity Two
The Valley Forge, 1777 is a well respected war that had a lot of suffering but through hope and
perseverance they were able to see through.
Activity Three

Colonial life as I see in the pictures was very male dominant. In all pictures the male is sitting as
the woman is standing waiting on her husband or the men are fighting in war or preparing for
battle. There is a lot of farming and work with horses and carriages.

Reflection
1. What is the most valuable take-away you have gained by learning about the resources at the
Library of Congress?
I learned that in my future classroom using the library of congress will provide a more in depth
learning environment for my students. I will provide great resources including pictures, documents and history based websites for future learning. The most valuable take-away is that with
this resource I can better interact my students and provide more visual and hands on content for
them to learn about.
2. What is the value of studying history using primary source documents?
Using primary source documents allows my students to have concrete evidence of what we had
and did not have in the past. For example, the constitution, seeing the constitution printed out or
copied version is actual evidence we can show our students but bringing them to go see the constitution is a whole another experience. What we are able to show our students will help them
make connections with history.
