Sy Oliver was a trumpeter, vocalist, composer, and
arranger
In 1933 he joined Jimmie Luncefords orchestra then
he changed to Tommy Dorseys orchestra
In 1964 he attempted to lead his own orchestra
before becoming a freelance arranger and a producer
1975-1980 was the time he regularly leaded a band
again
THe band mostly sang Pop and New Wave

Interesting Facts
The song Taint What you do, by Fun Boy Three, didnt get
onto the Bananarama album until 1988
Shim sham is often danced to this song
