Guitar and Ukulele

Some peoples hobby is playing music instrument. One of the music isntrument which often
played is guitar. However, do you know ukulele? Ukulele and guitar is music instrument
which have some similarities and also differences, such as the body shape, chord, and music
genre which can played.
Like guitar, ukulele has shape with hollow in the middle body. Both body of them usually
made by wood. Guitar size is about 25 inch. In the other hand, ukulele has smaller size with
the size about 20 inch. Moreover guitar has 6 strings, while ukulele only has 4 strings. Guitar
strings usually made by wire, but ukulele strings usually made by plastic.
Differencess about number of strings made chord of the guitar and ukulele also different.
Guitar chord designed to used on 6 strings, whereas ukulele chord designed to used on 4
strings. For example, play chord C on guitar is press string 1 fret 2, string 3 fret 2, and
string 2 fret 3. However, play chord C in ukulele is just press string 1 fret 3. Therefore,
ukulele chords are easier than guitar chords, so for the beginner playing ukulele is easier.
Music genre which can played with guitar not all can be played with ukulele. Guitar mostly
can be played for all music genre, like jazz, pop, rock, and so on. However, ukulele only can

be played for spesific music genre, such as jazz and traditional music in Indonesia called
keroncong. Yet recently, ukulele player try to play other music genre like pop, and rock with
ukulele.
Both guitar and ukulele have nice sound. Ukulele has the smaller size than guitar. Because
ukulele chord is easier then guitar, so for the beginner playing ukulele is easier then playing
guitar. Therefore, ukulele can be played by everyone. Although, music genre which can
played with guitar not all can be played with ukulele.
