Class Overview
Linear Algebra is an area of mathematics that was motivated by the goal of understanding linear systems of
equations. This course will focus on introducing the core language and concepts of linear algebra as well as its
applications.

Homework
Suggested homework problems will be assigned but not graded. Quizzes and exams will be based on
homework problems. Try every homework problem. Ask for help in discussion section and office hours.

Quizzes
Quizzes will be given during discussion section. Three quiz grades will be dropped. Quiz component of final
grade is total quiz points earned divided by total possible. There are no make-up quizzes.

Matlab Projects
Matlab projects will be given throughout the course. Visit https://terpware.umd.edu to obtain a free student
copy. Project component of final grade is total project points earned divided by total possible. No projects will
be dropped.

Final Grade
Quizzes 10%, Mathlab Projects 10%, Each Midterm 15%, Final Exam 35%

Makeup Policy
No makeup exams. If you email me before an exam and there is a compelling, justified, and documented
reason for your absence, then the exam weight will be moved to the final exam.

Academic Integrity
No cheating. Adhere to the honor pledge. No aids are permitted during exams. Collaborate on projects, but
write your own solutions.

Disabilities
Students who require special examination conditions must register with Disability Support Services (DSS).
Documentation must be provided. Proper forms must be filled out and provided before every exam.
