Ambrose Gwinett Bierce

1842-1914(?)

Biography
He was born in 1842 in Meigs County,Ohio, United
States.
Last seen in1914 in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico.
His parents were a poor but literary couple who
instilled in him a deep love for books and writing.
He was a Journalist, editorialist, fabulistand a Writer.
Bierce enlisted in the Union Army's 9th Indiana
Infantry Regiment
In 1862, Bierce fought at the Battle of Shiloh. The
memoir "What I Saw of Shiloh".

1879
Both of Bierce's sons died. He
separated form his wife in 1888
In 1913 he went to Mexico in the
midst of a revolution led by Pancho
Villa

sardonic view of human nature

During his career as a journalist, poet, and author of fiction


and nonfiction, Ambrose Bierce published more than four
million words.
