Brief Description of Learning Experience: What learning standards will be addressed? What will
students and teachers do? How will the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete?
What audience will use/care about the multimedia projects students are creating? How broad is this
audience? How will student work be assessed and by whom? Who will provide feedback to students
about their work?

The Learning standard that will be addressed is the Social Studies standard SS2H1. This activity will
come after the students have learned about Jackie Robinson. This lesson and project will be to show
what they have learned about him and his life. The teacher will then introduce the project by showing
the entire class an example video of Jackie Robinson. After watching the video the teacher will go
over a few brief steps on making the video and how to add images and sounds. Then the teacher will
allow the students to go to computers and have a time of exploration. The teacher will then walk
around and monitor and take any questions anyone has. The project will take a few class periods to
complete and if a majority of the class seems like they still need time to finish, more time can be
added if needed. Both students and parents will be the audience of the students creating this project.
Each of the students will share their video to the class as well as their parents to see when it is
published on the class blog. The teacher will provide the feedback to the students about their work.

Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why?
Which indicators of Engaged Learning are strong and why?

The LoTi level that would be addressed for this lesson would be a LoTi level 4. Students will be
creating and publishing their own work, but they are not seeking an outside source. The indicator of
Engaged learning that is strong is Producer. Students will be generating their own product of a video
and integrating knowledge and skill to complete it.

Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tools critical to the project? Could
the project be completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other
types of technology, if any, are going to be used in the learning experience?

Using a multimedia authoring tool is very critical to this project because if not than the project would
not even be possible. Students need the access to a computer to be able to make their video
representation of what they learned about Jackie Robinsons life. Without the multimedia tools the
assignment would not be as engaging as it is and you may lose some students interest.
Inspiration (optional): If you used existing multimedia projects as a model for your project
(whether in part or whole), include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you
borrowed from others.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Briefly discuss some possible issues surrounding internet
safety and student privacy that could arise while implementing this learning experience and explain
how youd minimize risks to students/yourself, alleviate any fears by parents/administrators, and
follow school districts Internet Safety/Use Policy.

Students safety is always a big factor when allowing them to use the internet. To minimize these
risks of student privacy and safety the teacher will be monitoring the student activity on the Internet
and on the computers. The students will not include any information of themselves in their project as
well when publishing them to the class blog. The teacher will also send a letter home to the parents
explaining what is going on in class and what the project will entail. The parents are then allowed to
email the teacher with any concerns they may have.
