Systematic Observation 1: Sofit

Mr. Reggie had another lesson of basketball. During the lesson I
noticed that some of the students were active and others were not. Of
course this can be normal in many situations because there will never
be a perfect class. The instant activity and first activity were great, but
towards the end I felt like the students were getting off track. From the
data collected the total time that they were active was 630 seconds.
This was the case because like I had mentioned some students were on
task and others were distracted, and with the SOFIT observational

sheet we have to look at a particular students for a couple of minutes.

One thing I would suggest is to target those students that are known
for either misbehaving or not being active. If Mr. Reggie can focus his
energy on those students I am positive that more students will have a
greater impact.
Systematic Observation 2: Teacher Demonstration
While observing Mr. Reggie I noticed how well he was able to
perform the skill that he wanted the students to learn. He did a great
job because he would stand in front of the whole class so that they can
all see him, and when they would all see him he would perform.
Another great thing he was able to do was have students demonstrate.
By having the students demonstrate the other students were able to
see that they too were able to do the skill. This creates a safe and
learning environment because now all of the students are willing to
participate. One thing I would suggest to improve his teaching is
demonstrating at a higher pace. I noticed that most of the skills being
performed were slow. If the students see a fast demonstration they can
get excited and try to copy that same motion. Other than that I feel like
Mr. Reggie did a great job in his lesson today.
