Miss Leach volunteers in my first grade classroom from 11:45 until 2:10 every day as part of her classwork at the Jackson County Career Center. Miss Leach is prompt, and unless she is ill, does not miss working in the classroom. She works with the students in various capacities as well as some secretarial duties that lighten my load. She has grown as far as interacting with the students. Where she was once quiet and simply observant of their behaviors, she is becoming more insistent on appropriate, on-task behavior. It is something that we have discussed and she is aware that is one area in which she will need to keep developing to be an educator with today’s students. Miss Leach talks and listens respectfully to the students. She enjoys their hugs and the attention that they show to her when she comes into the room. They really like her.
