BEHAVIORAL: Students will be able to 1) play E on the recorder 2) sing/ audiate
pentatonic patterns on solfege 3) pass/ bounce a ball in a steady tempo !
EXPERIENTIAL: Students will experience comprehensive music lesson focusing on
pentatonic scale, audiation, recorder playing, and steady beat (dalcroze).!

1. OPENING: PENTATONIC SCALE (3 mins)!
1. REVIEW: Rocky Mountain. Singing. B section: do - mi - sol - la!
2. ECHO-SING: pentatonic scale (hand sign: mi, re, do)!

2. HIGH CONCENTRATION - RECORDER (18 mins)!
1. REVIEW: Gently Sleep (Yellow Belt). Informal assessment.!
2. TEST: one by one (Alice/ Sofia bonus is Go Round the mountain)!
3. PREPARATION: Its Raining (green belt) !
1. INTRODUCE E: fingering (hand position with the right hand now engaged)!

Read through flashcards on syllables. SLOW AND STEADY.!
You will reorganize two rhythm cards on a pocket chart before class
finishes the chant.!

4. MODERATE CONCENTRATION: ENVELOPE GAME (5 mins)!
1. Each student has an envelope with 4 cards, each with a different pentatonic
melodic motive (4 beats) !
2. T sings one of the cards on lu. Students identify which melody the teacher
sang by showing the number of the card with fingers!
3. Combine 2, 3, 4 cards for challenge!

5. CLOSING: STEADY BEAT / LISTENING / DALCROZE (5 mins)!
1. PREPARATION (5 mins):!
1. Ss form a circle around the T. Sit.!
1. T establishes a steady beat. Ss passes a ball in a steady beat.!

2. With a recording: Listen, wait for 10 seconds. Feel the steady
