The radio 1 news script to me I think it appeals more to a younger generation
from 16 to 30 who need a shorter more attention grabbing headline to grab their attention. I derived this due to the fact that the stories were all fairly important to changes in the country or big current events. Also they give a summarised version so you only hear what actually happened not the lead up to and after events of the story. With the radio five news script I saw the reports were more about accidents, crimes or political dangers. The way they ar4e described as well in more detail and long winded to give all the information. And only maybe slightly older candidates will have the time to sit and listen to a longer report for the details of an incident. I found that the radio five news script was more formal. As it didnt use abbreviated words and instead uses more complex grammar with better sentence structure. Also they go further into the details of the situation and talk about it for longer. So the news script for radio five comes across as more of a focused subject in the radio news script. Whereas with radio 1 they follow the same casual informal script and this comes across in their news script. They use more abbreviated words and simple sentences in their news script such as its hed whod . They only really talk about the main aspect of the news story and just give the key eye catching information. Not going into as much detail and also not talking about it for as long. It comes across as a less important part of their total script and just a snippet between the music. So in ways that they differ you can label one as informal and one formal. Also radio five places more importance in their news report as part of their show. Whereas radio 1 only makes it a quick aspect of their show just to have incorporated it in their show. Radio 1 is a more brief summarised informal show, and radio five is formal, uses proper grammar, constructed sentences and is in general more thought out news section.
