The acquisition of Broken Plural by Jordanian Children:

A Morpho-Phonological account

Abstract

This study examines the acquisition of broken plural in Jordanian Arabic (JA).
Arabic language has two types of plurals, sound plural which is formed by attachment
of feminine and masculine suffix to the singular stem. This study describes the
acquisition of broken plural through morphological and phonological perspective.
The present study also aims at investigating semantic and morphological
overgeneralization which occurs within the production test of broken plural
acquisition.It investigates the phonological processes that observe in children' speech
in the production test.
