I did my practicum at St.

John Bosco and also at mother

Teresa. The learning environments were very different. As
my first one was at St.John Bosco had less class structure.
St.John Bosco is based off modules with no formal teaching
structures. Although Bosco students I believe have less
culture because they also have students from St. Josephs
Catholic High School. As they are high school students they
are able to be self-motivated. They have less structure and
are forced to take responsibly for there own work. They have
to take responsibility for there own schooling.
The environment of cliques in Bosco is very apparent. As
any High School setting is. The students are more hostile
towards the other students simply because they dont run in
the same crowd or something. Many student work
dependently opposite to in groups. In Mother Teresa there is
lots more group work .
Mother Teresa there is a lot instruction time by the teacher.
The students are always being assisted by the teacher as
they are grade one students and are not able to read and do
modules themselves.
The environment entering both of the schools is very
different.

When entering Mother Teresa most of students look around

to see who the person new people are whom they dont
recognize. The teachers all welcome the students as soon as
they enter the school or classroom. Well in Bosco many of
the teachers are to busy to great all the students. As the
students do not all enter at the same time this makes it hard
it is to welcome all the students.
The environment in St. John Bosco is much less controlled
because the idea is to give the students freedom. The
teachers allow the students to go at there own pace and
evaluate their learning.
Mother Teresa grade one environment is very controlled
because the teachers need structures as they need more
guidance.
Both teachers are able to keep control of the classroom as all
the students respect and treat the as they should. The bond
is very clear between the teachers and the students. The
teachers were very connected to the students parents in
different ways. At Mother Teresa the teacher would often tell
the parents about their progress with their reading. The
teacher at Bosco would commonly call parents if their child
was not attending or if they needed to complete a
assignment.
