Bob Smith, Welding Supervisor

Caterpillar Inc.
1000 Green Ave.
Lansing, MI 48933
Dear Mr. Smith:
I am writing to express my sincere interest in applying for the position of entry level
welder at Caterpillar Inc. I learned about this incredible opportunity from my welding
instructor, Mr. Jeff Seelye. Mr. Seelye has told me about how professional your
business is and the skill level of the welders your company produces. I am excited
to get my welding career started and I am extremely confident that my skills and
personal traits make me an excellent candidate for this position.
As you will see on my enclosed resume, I completed the Welding Technology class
at the ERESA Career Preparation Center during my senior year of high school. As a
part of the class I was exposed to several areas within the welding field where I
learned a variety of tasks related to changing the wire and contact tips and liners,
maintenance, and being able to weld in the vertical position with stick, MIG, and
TIG. repair, service and maintenance. This experience has given me the confidence
that a career in the field of welding technology is the right one for me. I plan to
continue my education at Lansing Community College. I am a team leader and
would greatly appreciate a chance to use my skills and apply my work ethic to your
company. I am currently a field manager at Brodbecks Farm in Lake Odessa. I also
have additional experience in the construction field.
I would appreciate an opportunity to meet with you for an interview. I can be
reached at (717) 231-5555 at your convenience. I am excited about the possibility
of working at the Car Center International and practicing the skills I have acquired
from my education.
Sincerely,

Grant Silvers
