Alpha Kappa Psi Welcomes the Beta Gamma Pledge Class

JAMES MADISON UNIVERSITY 4 FEBRUARY 2015 Alpha Kappa Psi Professional
Business Fraternity presents its newest pledge class, the Beta Gammas! This pledge
class is full of the most professional and well-rounded students on the campus of
James Madison University. Thursday night, the 85 brothers of Alpha Kappa Psi
deliberated for eight hours about which of the 48 rushees to whom they would
extend bids.

After watching the rushees interview videos and reading the essays, AKPsi brothers
discussed how they would benefit from the pledging process. Brothers voted on all
the rushees and decided that 27 of the 48 would be a good fit for the professional
business fraternity.

New Pledge Class: News Release 2
Once this decision was reached, it was time to alert the new pledges of their bid.
Friday afternoon, existing brothers split into two groups to deliver the news, on-
campus and off-campus. Two groups of brothers either went to the pledges
apartment or dorm room and handed the participant a balloon and bid card to
congratulate them.

Alpha Kappa Psi accepts students from all majors, a unique characteristic of the
fraternity. Half of the pledges have majors in the business school, and half represent
majors from all different departments. The pledge mom and the executive board of
Alpha Kappa Psi are positive this pledge class is going to contribute to success of the
fraternity. We have never had this many pledges before, but I can tell that these 27
students will bring so much passion to this organization, says Aarya Sewant, Nu Psi
President.

During the pledging process, pledges learn about the history of the Alpha Kappa Psi.
Pledges are quizzed weekly on this information and are also required to attend an
interview with each active brother to promote close relationships within the
brotherhood. The pledging process is eight weeks long.

The James Madison Nu Psi Chapter was founded November 9th, 1991. A total of 85
brothers are active. The brothers attend professional speakers, hold interview
workshops, resume building sessions, and other professional events.
