**Due Date: April 23, 2015
Choose one of the following final project options to compete the final project for
this unit.
Final Project Options:
1. Historical Figure Journal Entry
2. Acadian Crest
Explanation of the Options:
Historical Figure Journal Entry: Imagine you are one of the historical figures from
chapter 5 of our social studies textbook. As this historical figure, you have been
keeping a journal throughout your journey. In order to complete this assignment
you must:
Choose a significant event from chapter 5.
Write a journal entry about the event you have chosen
Include information about:
o What happened
o How your historical figure felt
o How your historical figure and how other people reacted (Mikmaq,
French, British, Acadians)
o Tough questions you think your historical figure would be having in
response to the event
Include a neat and imaginative drawing of either the historical figure or the
event your journal entry is discussing!
Be creative! Try to get into your historical figures mind!
Your journal entry must be at least one page in length, maximum two pages.
Acadian Crest: Imagine you are an Acadian craftsman / craftswoman. As an
Acadian craftsman / craftswoman, you are in charge of creating a crest that
reflects the Acadian lifestyle. In order to complete this assignment you must:

Choose 3-5 significant images that reflect the Acadians and their lifestyle
Create a crest using the images you have brainstormed.
On the back of your crest explain in 3-5 sentences why you have chosen
each image. Tell me why each these images are significant to the Acadians.
Be neat and be creative! Use color to enhance your crest.
Things to Keep in Mind:

Remember, writing mechanics are important! Spelling, grammar, sentence

structure, and punctuation will be considered regarding the effectiveness of

communication.

benefit.
